We are making orthotic insoles, mechanically and handmade, adjusted for the needs of each patient, based on footprint and measurements in our own, Slovenian production of orthotic insoles.

Problem solving with orthotic insoles

Individuals often face problems, such as calcaneal spur (spina calcanei), high arch (pes excavatus), flat feet (pes planus), plantar fasciitis, hallux toe (hallux valgus), hallux rigidus, pain in the front foot part, metatarsalgia, supination or pronation of feet, crooked fingers, Achilles heel, corn (clavus), shorter legs, diabetes or Morton Neurom, finger amputation, Morbus Sever heel pain.

Specially padded custom-made diabetic insoles help improve feet sensitivity and other typical issues that accompany diabetes.

Diabetic patients oftentimes do not feel pressure or pain that come with walking, so there is a greater possibility of getting boils, blisters etc. These inconveniences are first signs that require action, before more serious ulcers appear, or amputation is acquired.

The most important function of orthotic insoles for diabetics is mitigating hits while walking and pressure distribution.

Different versions of diabetic custom-made orthotic insoles: multifaceted, carbon, insoles embedded in slippers or sandals.

In the high performance or team sport, our body is exposed to considerable static and dynamic loads. That is why they recognize uncomfortable feet issues more often and faster.

The base effect of sport orthotic insoles is the body weight distribution over a larger area and consequently pressure points reduction. Such changes improve stability and reduce functional static and dynamic irregularities.

Sport orthotic insoles differ according to a type of sport. The insole must allow effectiveness and stability during dynamic and static movements, absorb blows which arise during sport activity and enable the athlete minimum energy loss.

Sensomotoric insoles are active orthotic insoles. By dynamically correcting our posture, they increase movement programming, with which we are stabilizing and building up our feet muscles.

OIM is the only engineering in Slovenia that designs sensomotoric insoles. In other European countries, these insoles are common practice. With them, they are delivering world-class results.

Corrective custom-made orthotic insoles enable high-quality support for severe foot deformities. The arches are usually supported by cork, EVA, or carbon, which stabilizes and neutralizes the foot well.

With the help of corrections, made on orthotic insoles, we can align knee and hip position and consequently the spine position. Corrective insoles successfully solve problems, such as Hallux valgus, flat foot, high arch, Achilles heel, Morton Neurom, metatarsalgia, and jogger’s heel.

About a year ago, I had a severe knee injury – I strained my anterior cruciate ligaments (ACL injury). A long treatment followed and after 7 months, I could return to the field. This time, I did not want to leave it be, so I contacted Mr Tašner and together we made all the testing and the customized the insoles right up my alley. Having 8 training session per week and a game, footwear plays a big role, especially with the help of custom-made orthotic insoles. The main reason for wearing shoe insoles is that they reduce injury possibility. With their help we can ease a lot of mistakes on our feet which we unknowingly make just by walking. They are my mandatory equipment on? All training sessions for 5 months now, because I am very pleased with them. Moreover, I cannot even imagine wearing any shoes without the insoles. Will orthopedic insoles in footwear bother me?

Answered by Dejan Tašner, B.P.O.:

Footwear should not be too big or too small and too tight if we want our walking and standing to be comfortable. A custom-made orthopedic insole should become a part of your footwear, which with its functionality contributes to comfort and an improved feeling in the feet.

Therefore, a very important step in the production of custom-made orthopedic insoles is professional diagnostics, where we precisely define the reasons and solutions that will be reached by using custom-made orthopedic insoles. This is followed by taking over the insoles, where we adjust the insoles in your footwear, and control after a few weeks, where we monitor the patient's feelings and the condition of the feet.

Why does the heel hurt?

Answered by assist. dr. Matjaž Merc, Ph.D. med.:

The heel most often hurts due to plantar fasciitis, also known as heel spur. It is a disease in which the growth of connective tissue that grows on the heel becomes inflamed. The band connective tissue on the sole (plantar fascia) is a very loaded structure of the foot, which otherwise takes care of the correct shape of the arch of the foot. This disease is especially common when working for a long time or when using the wrong shoes.

How do we treat plantar fasciitis?

Answered by asst. dr. Matjaž Merc, Ph.D. med.:

First, we assess the mobility of the foot and the point of greatest pain. Often, in the first phase, we decide on physical therapy, prescribe orthopedic inserts to the patient, and refer him to shock wave therapy. Despite intensive treatment, the pain can persist for months. In such a case, a medicine that reduces inflammation can be injected into the painful area. Surgery is the last resort, but fortunately it is rarely needed.
